Part of Pejepscot History Center's popular Summer Walking Tour Series. Merrymeeting Park and Humphrey’s Shipyard with Chris Gutscher.
Merrymeeting Park and Humphrey’s Shipyard led by Chris Gutscher
The local expert on these two intertwined areas of Route 1, Chris will take you on a multi-stop tour bringing to life the heyday of trolley-stop tourism, turn-of-the-century amusements, and Maine shipbuilding. He’ll also share new details of how the Town of Brunswick, which purchased the property in 2021, plans to open it to public use. This popular walking tour has run for several years; all who go have been glad they did!
Begins at Autometrics, 121 Bath Road. Drive or carpool from there to second stop off Route 2. Supportive footwear and bug/tick spray recommended. Two-hour walk.
Participants meet at starting point; driving directions and parking information provided upon registration. Please check-in with tour leader at least 10 minutes prior to tour time.
Tours are limited to 20 unless otherwise noted. PHC maintains a waiting list for each tour in case of cancellations. Most tours are 75-90 minutes, though tours outside of downtown may go slightly longer. Please dress accordingly for the weather and wear sturdy shoes, sunblock, and/or bug spray as needed.
TICKET SALES END AT 3:30 THE DAY BEFORE THE TOUR. If a tour is sold out, you may add your information to the waitlist and we will contact you if a ticket becomes available.
