Description
Join Dr. Deborah Threadgill Egerton to discover how love & advocacy can come together to rebuild our fractured society and heal humanity. We were not created to hate one another, to willingly contribute to the many divides within our soceity, or to withold our capcity for love from the people around us. These messages have been reinforced within us by our parents, teachers, pastors and preachers, reverends and priests, rabbis, monks, and other spiritual leaders. Many of us are taught to love one another, to help when someone is in need, and to show compassion to our fellow human beings; and yet we proceed to leave these messages behind and move forward like sleepwalking zombies with amnesia of everything good that we may have been taught. Compassion and empathy are essential human qualities and somehow, we train ourselves to switch them off. Many have defined 21st-century existence through a lens of fear, apathy, and separation. We have hardened our minds and our hearts to create the imperfect armor against harmful attitudes and actions. In the United States, the climate of racial injustice is riddled with conflicting narratives that have divided families, destroyed friendships, and alienated entire communities. Perhaps we are just trying to protect ourselves against real and perceived threats. So once again, we leave behind the messages we received of love and compassion and ignore the light that resides within us. In spite of our efforts to rationalize why “I am right, and you are wrong”, we cannot justify the end result: chaos, confusion, loss of trust, and divided families, friends, communities, and nations. We can know justice and know peace when we go deeper into understanding how to do the inner work and how each of us can contribute to eradicating racism, gender and sexual discrimination, classism, and all forms of marginalization. By utilizing our gifts as Allies and Advocates who stand with all the targets of marginalization and discrimination in communities, we can activate as Advocates for inclusion, diversity, equity, and anti-racism (IDEA). As we work together to strengthen our ability to show up as strong Advocates for racial and social justice we can begin to envision a future where, together as Allies, we become the change in the world that eradicates the “isms” that threaten the cooperative and collective connections of the human race. Dr. Deborah Threadgill Egerton is an internationally respected psychotherapist, IEA certified Enneagram teacher, author, and IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity, and anti-racism) consultant, coach, and spiritual teacher. “Dr. E,” as she is affectionately referred to, is the founder and president of Trinity Transition Consultants, LLC.
