Learn more about visual assessment of tree risk caused by disease, decay, pathogens, or storm damage.
Calling all tree wardens, public works employees, road crews, parks managers, and other interested tree stewards caring for trees in your community spaces!
Join VT Forests, Parks & Recreation's Forest Health specialists Jim Esden and Savannah Ferreira to learn about common tree health conditions that should be factored into any assessment of tree risk. From pathogens to storm damage, learn how to visually inspect for signs and symptoms that indicate increased risk of tree failure.
This workshop will be held outside and will include individual tree assessments in the field. Participants are invited to bring descriptions or pictures of other trees in their communities that they are evaluating for risk.
Jim Esden and Savannah Ferreira will be joined by Joanne Garton, Technical Assistance Coordinator for the Vermont Urban & Community Forestry Program, to discuss municipal strategies and needs regarding risk tree removals within the bounds of typical municipal tree care budgets.
