School Budget Passes Handily In East Hampton

EAST HAMPTON, NY — Voters turned out in resounding support for East Hampton students Tuesday. The East Hampton Union Free School District budget for 2022 to 2023 passed by a wide margin of 186 to 21. Three Board of Education incumbents, running unopposed, retained their seats with the following number of votes: Sandra Vorpahl received 181 votes, Justine O'Mara Limonius garnered 169, and James Foster received 170, the district said. The proposed $76,502,823 budget reflects a 1.79 percent budget-to-budget increase. Voters also weighed in on a proposition to approve the establishment of a repair reserve fund; the proposition is budget neutral, the district said. The capital repair reserve fund budget passed by an overwhelming vote of 189 to 19, the district said.
