BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Multiple COVID-19 outbreaks have been reported in Baltimore County schools in the past week, according to data from the Maryland Department of Health. Perry Hall Middle School is among them and has nearly 100 outbreaks, officials said Wednesday. The state health department releases a list of K-12 schools with outbreaks of COVID-19 every Wednesday. The data does not include child care facilities or higher education institutions. A schoolwide outbreak is defined as at least five classrooms or cohorts with cases from separate households in 14 days; or 5 percent of unrelated students, teachers or staff (at least 10 who are unrelated) having tested positive for COVID-19 within a two-week period. Coronavirus metrics in Baltimore County Public Schools are also updated on a rolling basis on the BCPS COVID-19 dashboard, which drills down into how many cases are at each school. Last week, 30 schools reported outbreaks in Baltimore County.
