ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Separate shootings in Newark and Irvington claimed the lives of two victims on Sunday, authorities say. The first fatal shooting took place at 3:22 a.m. at Prospect Street and Nesbit Terrace in Irvington, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office and the Irvington Police Department. Officers found Curt Johnson, 36, of East Orange, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at 3:58 a.m., authorities said. No arrests have been made as of Wednesday; a police investigation continues. NEWARK SHOOTING The second fatal shooting took place around 4 a.m. in Newark, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety. Officers responded to the 100-block of Murray Street, where they found Diogo Pranto, 30, of Newark. Pranto was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:13 a.m. No arrests have been made as of Wednesday; a police investigation continues.
