Press release from the Hamilton School District: May 16, 2022 Templeton Middle School's rocketry team, The Benchwarmers, advanced to American Rocketry Challenge national finals May 14 in Virginia. Team members include: Jack Fischer, Connor Tracy, Tristan Haigh, Logan Gierahn, Eric Patch, Lauren Houts and Patrick Wang. This is the first time a Templeton team qualified for finals. Designed to emulate aerospace industry methods, teams designed, fabricated and ran launch simulations to test their rocket design while being observed by a National Association of Rocketry official. The Benchwarmers were among the top 100 teams among the 720 that competed nationwide. Another Templeton rocketry team, Homesick Aliens, also produced a top-notch rocket and recorded a series of strong practice flight numbers. Team members include: Dylan Frankovis, Charlie Mrotek, Ramayana Mondal, Zayan Hassan, Jackson Ruplinger, Kaden Knauer, Corbin Meyer and Shivansh Gautam. American Rocketry Challenge is the world's largest rocket contest with nearly 5,000 students nationwide competing each year. The challenge gives middle and high school students the opportunity to design, build and launch model rockets and hands-on experience solving engineering problems. Templeton Mathematics Teacher Brenda Peterson is the rocketry team advisor. This press release was produced by the Hamilton School District. The views expressed here are the author's own.
