Description
PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — In an effort to provide more access to parents, The Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas County plans to host in-person, walk-in voluntary prekindergarten registration events throughout Pinellas County.
Events are scheduled May 18 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 2536 Countryside Blvd. No. 500, Clearwater, and June 3 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 3420 8th Ave S, St. Petersburg, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 25 at Lealman, 3815 43rd St. N, Building 8, St. Petersburg.
The registration event will allow parents to register their children to participate in Florida's Free VPK current or upcoming program year.
"We are passionate about helping families find the tools to support their child's development. Children who attend Florida's Free VPK are better prepared for success in kindergarten and beyond," said Lindsay Carson, chief executive officer of ELC Pinellas.
VPK is a free program for 4-year-olds whose families live in Florida. The program helps build a strong foundation for school using educational materials appropriate for different stages in a child's development and preparing them for kindergarten and beyond.
Families can decide where their child learns with hundreds of public, private and faith-based schools and centers in Pinellas County.
Families interested in participating in in-person VPK registration event must have the following items: email address, proof of Florida residency such as a Florida driver's license, utility bill or current signed lease, and proof of the child's age including a birth certificate, passport or current immunization record.
