This public discussion will focus on the role of leadership in supporting elementary science and engineering learning and teaching. PUBLIC EVENTReport on Science and Engineering in Preschool Through Elementary Grades: The Brilliance of Children and the Strengths of EducatorsBuilding a solid foundation in science and engineering in preschool through elementary grades not only enhances and sustains children’s’ natural curiosity for science and engineer, but also sets them up for later success by establishing the knowledge and skills that are needed for challenging topics introduced in last grades. Join the Board on Science Education on June 14th from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm in Irvine, CA for a public event to discuss the recent report Science and Engineering in Preschool Through Elementary Grades: The Brilliance of Children and the Strengths of Educators. The event will feature conversations with different stakeholders who are faced with ensuring the children have access to science and engineering in preschool through elementary grades. Moderated panel discussions will focus on specific recommendations from the report with respect to how to prioritize science and engineering in these early grades and how to build capacity through the preparation of educators and leaders.
