MANCHESTER, CT — The Manchester farmers market season, which includes the Spruce Street Farmers Market and the Northwest Park Farmers Market, is set to kick off on June 1, officials said.
The sixth-annual Spruce Street Farmers Market will run on Wednesdays from June 1 through August 31 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Market Field, 153 and 163 Spruce St.
In addition to serving as a source for local foods, the market accepts SNAP/EBT and WIC payments, and will double the value of SNAP purchases up to $10 (spend $10 using an EBT card to receive an additional $10 to spend on fresh produce).
New this year is the Power of Produce program or POP. Every child who visits the Welcome Pavilion will receive a $2 voucher to spend on produce.
Vendor selections are "thoughtfully curated" to include diverse Connecticut business owners and foods with products that include fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and eggs, gluten-free baked goods, vegan offerings, honey, maple syrup, food trucks, and artisans.
