Join Occupational Therapist Maureen Fischer to help learn about your child's development. The development of your child is one of the most important factors to not only know but to master. In fact, eighty percent of the human brain's structure takes shape between the ages 0-3. Which is why we are excited to offer a developmental playgroup series that has six main goals: education on developmental milestones, resources on development, strategies to promote development, opportunities for practice, opportunities to interact with other parents and improve parents' understanding of development and comfort with promoting developmental milestones. Our Developmental playgroups will be facilitated by an experienced pediatric occupational therapist who will provide information and resources on developmental milestones for your baby's age and stage. Helpful tips will be shown on promoting development that you will have the opportunity to practice with your baby while also interacting with parents of same-age babies! Developmental playgroup for ages 6-12 months focuses on gross motor, fine motor and play development milestones. Session 1: June 10, 2022 • Review of gross motor, fine motor and play developmental milestones • Prompting sitting, crawling, standing and walking • Positions for play, toy suggestions to promote fine motor skills • Try-it-out time, socialize an ask occupational therapy questions specific to your child Session 2: June 17, 2022 • Discuss strategies learned in last session and how they are working at home • Social, oral motor/feeding and language development • Discuss food progression and promoting language • Socialize, try-it-out time and occupational therapy questions specific to your child Fee is for BOTH of the sessions above.
