Description
CHESTER COUNTY — Paul "PK" Thompson, Chester County Intermediate Unit director of operations, was recognized for decades of service to thousands of students, educators and community members.
Thompson is retiring from the Chester County Intermediate Unit on June 30 after 36 years of service.
Michael Groover, deputy director for emergency management for Chester County Department of Emergency Services, recently presented Thompson with a certificate of appreciation for his work with the Local Emergency Planning Committee.
"Paul was instrumental in establishing the Points of Dispensing program in Chester County," Groover said. "He paired up schools, the Department of Emergency Services and the Chester County Health Department to be able to deliver medical countermeasures in times of great need."
Thompson's colleagues at the intermediate unit acknowledged Thompson's achievements and the importance of his work over the length of his career.
Joe Lubitsky, director of administrative services and Thompson's supervisor for over 20 years, said no task was too small for Thompson.
"Over the course of his career, PK coordinated dozens of construction and renovation projects of all sizes and scopes of work," Lubitsky said. "He always provided timely and creative solutions to avoid potential problems."
