ELMHURST, IL – Officials are looking to buy a new scoreboard for York High School's football field. It would include a video screen.
In its list of summer projects, Elmhurst School District 205 included the scoreboard.
The estimated allocation was $100,000. But on Tuesday, a school board committee was presented with three options exceeding that estimate, ranging from $131,000 to $167,000.
The costs are based on the size and quality of the video screen.
More and more high schools are going with such screens for their scoreboards. Lyons Township High School recently did so.
Todd Schmidt, the district's facilities director, said the school could offset some costs with advertising on the screen. And board member Courtenae Trautmann said the district could go to booster clubs to help pay for the scoreboard. Any number of activities could benefit from it, she said.
No decisions were made at the meeting.
