BURNSVILLE, MN — If you're interested in running for office during the 2022 elections in Burnsville, you must file an affidavit for candidacy by May 31. The filing period opened Tuesday, the city said.
Seats that are up for re-election include two City Council seats.
Filings will be accepted at Burnsville City Hall, the city said.
To be eligible to file you must:
Be an eligible voterBe at least 21 years old when assuming officeReside in their districts for at least 30 days before the General ElectionHave no other affidavit on file for any other elected office Candidates must also pay a $20 filing fee, the city said.

Editor's note: A previous version of this article said that the mayor's seat was up for election. Council member Vince Workman informed Patch that the Mayor's seat is elected during the General Election cycle.
