Here are the top three stories in Lakewood today: Fire Chief Michael Lasky said the investigation is ongoing into the partial collapse of the underground parking garage at 5800 Laurent Drive. Structural engineers are evaluating the incident, said Lasky. They are hoping to have a report within the next week. (cleveland.com)Former Lakewood City Council president Dan O'Malley received threatening text messages on the day he resigned to serve on the Port of Cleveland Board of Directors. O'Malley called the Lakewood Police Department to report the incident on May 1. The suspect was charged with telecommunications harassment and has a warrant out for his arrest. (cleveland.com) Ohio Democratic sponsor Nickie Antonio of Lakewood joined other representatives to discuss the proposed amendment to the Ohio Constitution that would ensure state residents access to surgical and medical abortion services and codify the right to use contraceptives. On Tuesday Antonio and Youngstown State Representative Michele Lepore-Hagan, D-58th, House Minority Whip Jessica Miranda of Forest Park and Sen. Sandra Williams of Cleveland came together to outline the measure during a media briefing on The Ohio Channel. Lepore-Hagan stated that she and her Democratic colleagues will empower Ohioans by introducing an amendment to protect the freedom to make their own personal healthcare decisions.
