Supervisor Environmental Health & Safety & Facilities Escondido, CAJob Flexibility Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis. Position Overview Responsible for managing and supporting the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) activities and initiatives, coordinating the facility general, preventive maintenance activities and maintaining records. Prevent and eliminate injury and illness to employees and assist to comply with safety and environmental laws. Implement company policies to minimize or eliminate hazards to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. Lead and direct salary and hourly resources to implement systems to improve maintenance and safety metrics. Support the site to achieve ISO14001/45001 certification and assure the adherence of the standards consistently and systematically throughout our Escondido, California operation. This position is responsible to determine requirements, cost, and scheduling necessary for all facility repairs, renovation projects, waste reduction improvements and safety inspections. The Facility EH&S manager will negotiate with outside vendors for supplies, repairs and other measures. Job Responsibilities Operate and maintain the facility in full compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, permits, our corporate policy, and the Environmental Management System. Stay current on industrial trends, changes to government requirements, and policies to ensure on-going compliance. Investigate root causes of accidents, Near Miss accidents, and prepare reports with the findings and corrective action. Prepares and schedule training to cover emergency procedures and workplace safety. Recommend changes to protect workers and educate employees on how to prevent health problems through the utilization of EH&S training programs. Direct and supervise salary and hourly facilities staff to support building maintenance, manufacturing preventive maintenance, EH&S policies, facility safety, and security. Responsible for the development, planning and implementation of environmental, health and safety policies and procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness and injury prevention and building safety) within the company. Plan and coordinate facilities maintenance activities in the facilities including analyzing equipment needs, reliability issues, and supporting preventive/predictive maintenance programs. Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues including safety, health, and environmental risks. Monitor maintenance inventory and place orders when necessary. Schedule and maintain records for all preventive maintenance, production equipment facilities, and EHS records of waste, energy usage, and / or pollutants as required. Responsible for oversight the cleanliness and comfort of the facilities by keeping all heating, furniture, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems in top operating condition. Allocate workload and supervise facility upkeep (custodians, janitorial services) while managing relationships with contractors and service providers. Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines. Required Qualifications 4-year degree in engineering or occupational health, safety or a related discipline. Direct experience and knowledge in manufacturing operations and related technologies, facility management Environmental, Health and Safety Systems, local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulation, ISO9001/14001/45001. Good knowledge of environmental and regulations and policies Experience in facility general and preventive maintenance Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, HVAC, and electrical systems. Deep understanding of health and safety guidelines and working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Good knowledge of data analysis, problem solving and risk assessment. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and influence all levels of employees and management.
