BERKELEY, CA — An Alameda County jury earlier this month convicted a man in connection with two Berkeley robberies, prosecutors said. Richard Scott was convicted May 9 of three felony counts of second-degree robbery, the Alameda County District Attorney's Office said in a statement. Scott was also convicted for an Oakland robbery. All three incidents occurred within a seven-day period in September, prosecutors said. In the early morning hours of Sept. 28 Scott threatened to shoot a clerk during the robbery of a 7-Eleven store (2887 College Ave.), prosecutors said. Two days later Scott brandished an ax during the robbery of SP Food Mart Gasoline (1580 San Pablo Ave.), prosecutors said. Scott dropped his debit card during the Sept. 23 robbery of Go Gas and Food (720 High St.), prosecutors said. Scott was on parole during all three incidents and was identified by this parole agent on surveillance video, prosecutors said. A Berkeley Police Department detective obtained search warrants for Scott's cell phone data, which placed him at the 7-Eleven and the SP Food Mart stores at the times of the robberies, prosecutors said.
