Description

PHOENIX, AZ — Over 150 firefighters and other personnel were called to the scene of a fourth alarm fire overnight at a pallet yard in Phoenix, according to the PFD. The PFD said on Wednesday morning that the main body of the fire had been controlled, though crews remained on the scene and continued to hit hot spots throughout the night. No injuries to civilians or emergency personnel were reported, authorities said. According to the department, just after 10 p.m. Tuesday, crews were called to the fire near 35th Avenue and W Buckeye Road, where they found a wind-driven blaze. Crews immediately called for a greater alarm response, according to the PFD. As additional crews arrived, the fire department said its firefighters set up a perimeter with "elevated master streams and flowing big water" in order to suppress flames and keep the fire from moving to nearby businesses. The PFD said the cause of the fire is unknown, but the Phoenix Fire Investigations Task Force has been on-site and is conducting an investigation.
