PHOENIX, AZ — A was arrested on Monday for attempting to sexually assault a blind woman he met through a dating app, according to Phoenix police. Terrence Cooper was arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of kidnapping and sexual assault and was being held in Maricopa County Jail as of Wednesday on $10,000 bond, according to jail records. The woman, who was in her late 20s, had met Cooper through a dating app and invited him to her apartment after the two had talked on the phone several times, according to police. The man brought alcohol with him and became verbally and physically aggressive after he started drinking, police said. The woman told Cooper she did not want to have sex, but Cooper said he wouldn't leave unless she had sex with him, according to police. She tried to leave, but Cooper stopped her, hit her in the face and strangled her, police said. But the woman fought Cooper and got away to call for help, police said. Cooper then fled, according to police. Soon after the woman called for help, around 1:30 a.m. Monday, an officer spotted Cooper and arrested him, police said.
