Small poultry hatchery operation in Tonopah is seeking a reliable individual for part-time work with stretches of “full-time” work when owner/employer goes out of town. Prefer to hire one individual for both “regular part-time” hours (which are flexible), and “additional” hours, (which are NOT flexible). Details of each below. This is an outdoor job in a desert that reaches above 110 degrees. Interested applicants must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures and should not suffer from any critter phobias, considering you will encounter reptiles, insects, and arachnids on the property, which you will not be permitted to harm. REGULAR PART-TIME HOURS: • Two days a week: Either a) Sunday or Monday AND Thursday, or b) Tuesday AND Friday or Saturday, or c) Wednesday or Thursday AND Sunday o The two specific days are negotiable to suit worker’s needs and will be agreed upon each month, but are also subject to change when owner might request help on an alternative day. • Two to five hours per day (specific hours & duties will be assigned each week) o Morning hours: Not required regularly at this point in time, but owner may assign morning hours occasionally. o Evening hours (changes based on sunset time):  Minimum 2-hour day: Start at 4:00pm  3-hour day: Start at 3pm  4-hour day: Start at 2pm  Maximum 5-hour day: Start at 1pm  Shift ends once day’s duties are completed • $80/day ($160/week for 2 days of labor) - payment provided once a week. ADDITIONAL HOURS: There will be stretches of time the owner will be out of town and will need worker to be available to take care of the animals during the entire time she is away. Frequency of these assigned hours will range, but may start out being once every four to eight weeks. Under normal circumstances, worker will be advised at least two weeks in advance the back-to-back dates they will be required to work. The duration will vary, could be only three back-to-back days or it could be two full weeks. Hours are NOT flexible during this time. At least one hour required in morning, (could start as early as a half-hour before sunrise, depending on nesting/housing situation of free-range birds at that time, or could start as late as 10am); AND 2+ hours required in evening starting at least two hours before sunset. Shift ends when duties are completed. Hours are based on bird-time (the sun). Individual hired for these hours MUST be reliable! The birds’ lives will depend on it! If proven trustworthy (more likely to happen if worker is also hired for regular part-time hours above), owner might provide in-house overnight-stay option during these hours to make it easier on worker if commute is difficult. Payment for fewer than five back-to-back days: $200 Payment for five to seven back-to-back days: $350 Payment for eight to 12 back-to-back days: $500 Payment for more than 12 back-to-back days: Starts at $600 If hired for both types of hours, starting out, the least you will make a month is $640, and the most you could make a month is $920 DUTIES INCLUDE, but are not limited to, the following: Regular tasks required DAILY: • Clean out and refill poultry water containers in evening (check/ top-off water in morning if morning hours required) • Feed poultry in evening (and in morning if morning hours required) • Water all trees • Collect eggs Tasks required AS-NEEDED (will be assigned as needed by employer, some of which will be required once a week, and are subject to change in frequency and extensiveness): • Fix tree wells • Re-erect leaning/falling trees • Rotate chicks and clean out corrals in nursery • Clean out bird kennels/pens • Clean out poultry house • Move/rotate birds • Make improvements (via shading and enrichment) or repairs to poultry house/enclosures/structures • Make supply runs (when owner or owner’s spouse is unable to) • Assist with assembling new enclosures/ poultry structures • Assist with possible medical application • Clear off and power-wash decks IF INTERESTED: 1.
