Our business is growing quickly. We are currently looking to fill a full-time position of Diesel Shop Mechanic. You will have a very important role at Genemco! We have a fleet of trucks, cars, fork lifts ( 5K LBS to 15K LBS), cranes (up to 100,000 LBS), side by side mules, tractors, skid steers, bulldozers, mowers, trailers and more. Much of our heavy equipment is older models so need a mechanic that can dive in and troubleshoot, be creative, locate parts for repairs to older machinery as well as newer machinery. In addition to our company fleet, Genemco buys and sells industrial equipment. Our main inventory is refrigeration equipment such as screw compressors, reciprocating compressors, evaporator coils, evaporative condensers, pumps, motors, tanks and additional large equipment/machines. We have equipment in our inventory that requires review, diagnosis, parts ordering, repair and testing before selling to our customers. Our full time mechanic is responsible for accurately diagnosing and repairing our company fleet as well as inventory on a routine and as needed basis. Because we have a large number of different tasks and types of equipment, it’s important that you have a great attitude, have a great mechanical background and aptitude, are willing to learn and adapt your skills, and are able to figure things out when you don’t know the answer! Company’s Website: Company's Facebook page: Responsibilities • Diagnose and repair diesel machinery and equipment • Assess vehicles and and/or machinery to accurately diagnose and repair issues • Routine inspections/maintenance of vehicles/machinery/inventory • Comprehend blueprints, drawings, sketches and plans • Set-up routine review and maintenance of company fleet to keep operating and safe • Run diagnostic tests on engines and equipment and interpret the results • Inspect vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts • Repair or replace transmissions, brakes, engines and other associated parts • Complete oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment and brake checks • Test repaired vehicles and machinery to gauge performance • Maintain records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles/machinery • Willing and able to pivot to doing different tasks throughout the day • Communicate with Genemco management and staff • Prepare work plans after fully scoping out issues • Prepare quotes and work estimates • Effectively manage and plan work without needing direct supervision on all matters. • Maintain, clean, organize equipment and tools to ensure they are kept in a safe and usable condition at all times Skills & Experience: * Mechanic experience (5-10 years) • Warehouse experience (2-3 years) • Ability to diagnose and repair older (70’s/80s) equipment/machinery as well as new • Advanced knowledge of vehicle, electrical system and diesel engines • In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms • Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment • Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools • Excellent problem-solving skills • Attention to detail • Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics • Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software • Good interpersonal skills • Effective collaboration and communication skills • Willing and able to work in a fast paced environment and to change tasks quickly • Experience in the refrigeration equipment field isn't required but would be a benefit • Bi-Lingual (Spanish/English) is preferred, but not required This Job Is Ideal for Someone with the below qualities: * Great Attitude -- love your job, are helpful and fun to work with • Can Fix Anything -- you can figure out almost any issue and repair it • Work on Old and New Machinery -- you can work on older (60s/70s) equipment and newer equipment • Dependable -- more reliable than spontaneous • Adaptable/Flexible -- enjoys doing work that requires frequent shifts in direction • High Stress Tolerance -- thrives in a high-pressure environment Schedule & Location: * Full-time, Monday to Friday, weekends as needed for projects.
