BOSTON — Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker was working remotely Tuesday after canceling all public appearances for an unspecified illness.
"Gov. Baker is not feeling well and will not be attending public events in person today," the administration said in a statement. "The governor is attending meetings virtually today, and has tested negative for Covid-19."
Baker had been scheduled to attend a ribbon-cutting at a new Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. property in Boston's Seaport District and Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce's annual meeting, where he was to be named one of the Chamber's 2022 Distinguished Bostonians.
Baker, a Republican, is now in his last year in office.
