NEWARK, NJ — A student at an elementary school in Newark brought a loaded gun to the campus on Monday morning, authorities said. According to Newark Public Safety Director Brian O'Hara, officers responded to North Star Academy West Side Park Elementary School on 18th Avenue around 10 a.m. after getting a call about a juvenile who was in possession of a loaded handgun. Police safeguarded the handgun and school administrators notified the child's guardian. No injuries were reported, authorities said.
