GLEN BURNIE, MD — A Bowie man died after a Saturday crash in Glen Burnie, the Anne Arundel County Police Department said. Officers identified the victim as 65-year-old Kurt Ignatius Johnson.
Authorities heard about the single-vehicle wreck around 12:10 p.m. Johnson was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck north on West Nursery Road approaching River Road, a press release said.
Police said the driver lost control of the truck in a curve just before River Road and hit a utility pole. Johnson was the only person in the truck.
The Anne Arundel County Fire Department removed the driver from the truck and took him to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, officers said.
Doctors pronounced Johnson dead soon after he arrived at shock trauma, authorities said.
The release said the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy on the driver's body to determine the cause and manner of death.
Private First Class Z. Wood and Cpl. J. Greer are still investigating. The case number is 2022-716712.
