GERMANTOWN, MD — Ta'Quawn Deon Henderson, 17, from Germantown, was charged with first-degree murder in the case of 17-year-old Jailyn Jones' death this past January. Jones' body was found Jan. 24 in a creek behind a house in the 18900 block of Grotto Lane in Germantown. Montgomery County Police say they got a warrant for Henderson's arrest on May 12 and he turned himself in on Sunday. Henderson and Jones knew each other from Northwest High School, authorities said. Montgomery County State's Attorney John McCarthy said Henderson has been charged as an adult with premeditated first-degree murder. Police Chief Marcus Jones on Monday saidJones had been stabbed multiple times, and suffered head wounds, WTOP reported. Bloody clothes were connected by investigators with Henderson. The chief said no motive has been established in the slaying. "This is a double tragedy; let's be real," Jones told WTOP. "We have a 17-year-old arrested for murder … [and] it makes no sense that this young man has lost his life." Henderson made his first court appearance on Monday, and was confronted byJones' mother, Alexis McDaniel, when the teen appeared via a video screen in court, NBC Washington reported. "You killed my son! You're going to spend the rest of your life in jail! You killed my son," the TV station reported McDaniel said in court. Northwest High School officials released a statement following his death saying Jones had a "large personality, infectious smile, and amazing spirit," FOX5DC reported. Chief Jones said there may be other suspects involved in Henderson's death.
