Join birder and urban ecologist Deja Perkins on a bird walk to kick off #BlackBirdersWeek2022 in a safe space for Black bird watchers!
Come learn about birds in community with other Black birders! This event is open to bird watchers of any skill level, first time or experienced. Learn from urban ecologist and birder Deja Perkins, as we kick off #BlackBirdersWeek2022 exploring the birds at Prairie Ridge Ecostation in Raleigh, North Carolina.
This event will be held outside on a natural trail on a property with a slight slope (walking sticks may be helpful). Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for outdoor weather including a hat, water, and sunscreen. A limited amount of binoculars will be provided on a first come first serve basis, so bring your own binoculars if you have them. Cameras welcome.
This free event is being held in collaboration with Black AF in STEM, the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources along with the North Carolina African American Heritage Commission, and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.
