HARFORD COUNTY, MD — The Harford County Sheriff's Office will conduct a sobriety checkpoint to kick off Memorial Day weekend. During the evening hours on Friday, May 27, officials said they would be holding the checkpoint to look for drivers who are intoxicated. Authorities did not disclose the location of the DUI checkpoint, but letting the public know about the checkpoint before it occurs is required by law. In a Supreme Court case about the 4th and 14th Amendments, the court ruled that citizens' rights against unlawful search and seizure are not violated if checkpoints are publicized in advance.
