HERNDON, VA — Virginia Department of Transportation is hosting a virtual public hearing on Wednesday to answer questions about planned improvements at the Fox Mill Road and Pinecrest Road intersection.
On an average day, 13,000 vehicles travel through the intersection on Fox Mill Road compared to 2,400 vehicles on Pinecrest Road, according to 2019 data.
A temporary traffic signal at the intersection began operating in August 2021, but the installation of a permanent traffic signal is among the improvements VDOT plans to make.
Here are some of the improvements that will be discussed at Wednesday's meeting:
Constructing left-turn lanes on northbound and southbound Fox Mill RoadAdding four crosswalksReconstructing sidewalks and curb rampsConstructing an eight-foot-wide walkway and curb ramp at the southeast corner of the intersectionInstalling curb and gutterImproving drainageRestriping pavementThe meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m., on Tuesday.
