As winter and spring weather are slowly but surely turning into summer, we are thrilled to approach our New Town at Harmony upcoming events, beginning this Saturday! Welcome to New Town at Harmony, Kansas City’s favorite new home community. Introducing new urbanism to Kansas City, developed by Homes by Whittaker and is modeled of off their very successful New Urban Community, New Town St. Charles, just outside of St. Louis. New Town at Harmony is proposed to have up to 600 housing units on 130 acres. It's a truly mixed-use environment with a wide range of homes to suit most every budget. New Urbanism is a movement promoting environmentally friendly habits by creating walkable neighborhoods with a wide range of housing options. It came to the United States in the early 1980s in Seaside, Florida, and has since been influencing many aspects of real estate development and urban planning. It focuses on two concepts: building a sense of community and the development of ecological practices. Our events schedule focuses on building a sense of community. It’s neighborhood family fun for people of all ages, for those who live in our community and also open to the public. This Saturday, May 21st will be our first outdoor concert, featuring The Rippers, “Kansas City’s 60s band”, an outstanding and highly energetic group of very talented musicians with an excellent following of spirited folks.
