Pride on the Block: Project Flourish Kitchen & Culture Series with Alicia Garcia with Rohi's Readery Join us at Rohi's Readery as we continue our cooking series by the incredible Alicia Garcia, founder of Project Flourish! Part of our Pride on the Block Loving Rainbow Youth Programming! Each month Alicia will be guiding us as we explore the benefits of environmental stewardship through plant- based cooking and natural apothecary. We'll question the impact of consumption, learn ingredients, and explore our ancestors' greener approach to living! About the Incredible Educator/ Mama/ Founder: Alicia Garcia, founder of Project Flourish, is a private chef, urban gardener, home economics educator, and mother of 4. Alicia is also certified for nature-based education and plant-based nutrition. Through Project Flourish, she offers classes, community gatherings, and a collection of provisions with an emphasis on nature, wellness, & environmental stewardship. Alicia’s vegan cooking series for kids is hosted seasonally at enrichment centers and greenspaces throughout South Florida. Her hope is that through Project Flourish’s offering, children and in turn… families are inspired to connect, nourish their bodies / minds, and establish successful family rhythms. A leader in her community, Alicia also serves as Vice President for Terranaut Club, which provides Science and Nature explorations for underprivileged and underrepresented girls in South Florida. She is also co-founder of Good Natured Roots, Children’s Magazine, which celebrates BIPOC children and families exploring the natural world. This event not only helps raise funds to assist LGBTQ+ people who are committed to living free from drug addiction and/or alcoholism, but it also will raise awareness for our cause across the community. We aspire to connect individuals to the care and resources necessary to create a solid foundation for a healthy and fulfilling life in recovery. This year, we have suppported the LGBTQ+community by providing financial aid to assist with counseling, medication, hormone replacement therapy, name changing processing, job training and groceries. We’re hosting a Block Party including live music, youth programming, performances, art show and silent auction as a way to raise funds and continue our work! Pride on the Block will take place on the 500 block of Clematis Street, West Palm Beach, FL on June 4, 2022 1pm to 4am. The "Loving Rainbow" Youth Programming from 1pm-5pm. This event wouldn’t be possible without the support of local organizations and companies who provide valuable services and products so that we can support our attendees and participants. With your support, we will we be able to direct financial support to help LGBTQ+ individuals within substance use treatment to be able to afford medications, mental health services, sober-living housing, food, clothes for job interviews and much more.
