HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt. INCIDENTS THEFT Someone stole a generator from the bed of a company work truck parked in the 100 block of Hazel Avenue between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on May 5. COMMERCIAL BURGLARYTwo unidentified male burglars got into the club house at Exmoor Country Club, 700 Vine Ave., around 5:15 a.m. on May 10 through a rear tent. The duo broke into a locked freezer and stole several bottles of alcohol and drinkware, the value of which was not known at the time of the report. BIKE THEFTSomeone stole a black, blue and white child's Giant brand bicycle from the central train station, 1707 St. Johns Ave., between 7:30 a.m. and 5:51 p.m. on May 10. The bicycle, valued at $100, had thick tires, flat handlebars and a slightly broken paint protector. HOME BURGLARY ATTEMPTFour unidentified male prowlers dressed in masks, hoods or hats and backpacks shattered a rear glass window of a home in the 1700 block of Snapdragon Court shortly before 9 p.m. on May 14. The group did not enter the home. Instead, they were last seen heading toward an adjacent subdivision where a white pickup truck was seen driving around. ARRESTS/CITATIONSMark J. Mathieson, 45, of the 500 block of East Illinois Road, Lake Forest, was arrested around 1:45 p.m. on May 12 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs after officers were dispatched to the area of Sheridan Road and Vine Avenue for a report that Mathieson had struck another car. Officers also issued him a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash. Brianna E. Presley, 23, of the 2700 block of Hebron Avenue, Zion, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on May 12 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and excessive speeding following a traffic stop on Skokie Valley Road past Park Avenue West. Officers reported she was driving 100 mph in the 55 mph zone. She was also issued a citation for failure to signal when required. Francisco J. Robles, 36, of the 800 block of Deerfield Road, Highland Park, was arrested around 2 a.m. on May 15 and charged with three counts of felony aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol — no insurance, no license and a suspended license — two counts of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended or revoked license and attempted possession of a controlled substance. Police said they pulled him over on Green Bay Road at Elm Place and found him to be impaired and the subject of an active warrant for his arrest stemming from a suspended driver's license charge. Officers also issued him citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and not having a valid registration.
