NORTHBROOK, IL – May 15, 2022 – Throughout the month of May, Northfield Township Food Pantry is the featured organization on First Bank of Highland Park’s Community Art Wall at the Northbrook Banking Center. The exhibit highlights their efforts to create stronger communities and alleviate food insecurity. The pantry provides groceries, diapers, hygiene, cleaning supplies, and grocery store gift cards to residents who are unable to provide enough food for themselves and their families. They are committed to a respectful, welcoming environment, serving all without regard to age, creed, race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identification, and physical or mental disability. The Northfield Township Food Pantry was started nearly 50 years ago to assist Township residents who are unable to provide enough food for themselves and their families. No tax dollars are used to supply the Pantry. The Pantry is sustained entirely by residents, civic organizations, schools, businesses, and the faith community who generously donate food items, grocery store cards, and cash. “We are fortunate to live in a largely affluent area where many people are surprised to learn that Northfield Township has a food pantry,” says Shiva Mohsenzadeh, Northfield Supervisor. “Food insecurity is quite real…we’re serving over 1,100 households and making 732 grocery distributions per month. As long as there are residents in need, we will be there for them.” The Northfield Township Food Pantry exhibit is located in the First Bank of Highland Park lobby in Northbrook and will be open to the public during regular business hours throughout the month of May.
