PITTSBURGH, PA — A Port Authority of Allegheny County bus driver has taken the first step in suing the city of Pittsburgh over the collapse of the Fern Hollow bridge in January, according to a report. Daryl Luciani and his wife, Karen Luciani, filed a motion in Allegheny County court this week asking the city to provide several records, reports, and documents related to the bridge collapse, TribLive.com reported. The motion claims Luciani suffered serious physical and mental injuries as a result of the collapse. Luciani was driving a Port Authority bus across Fern Hollow Bridge around 6:40 a.m. Jan. 28 when the bridge collapsed beneath him, TribLive.com reported. The bus then fell 100 feet into the ravine below. RELATED: Pittsburgh Bridge Collapse: 10 Injuries, Biden Visit To Continue At least 10 people were injured when the bridge over Frick Park collapsed. Five vehicles and a Port Authority bus were on the span when it fell. At the time of the collapse, the bus could be seen upright on a section of the collapsed bridge. According to The Associated Press, rescuers had to rappel nearly 150 feet while others formed a human chain to help rescue people. In February, a married couple whose pickup truck also fell into the ravine when the bridge collapsed filed an intent to sue the city of Pittsburgh, PennDOT and the Port Authority of Allegheny County. The lawsuit by Velva and Tyrone Perry was the first to be filed in connection with the span's collapse. Construction began in late April on a replacement for the Fern Hollow Bridge.
