Description
EDance305 is Miami's very own Ecstatic Dance - every other Tuesday! WELCOME TO ECSTATIC DANCE 305Come as you are, dance as you wish. Ecstatic dance is a freeform movement journey, held in a safe and sacred container, and facilitated by a professional DJ. It’s a place where we can be our unique selves, and also be connected to a common source. What’s unique about ecstatic dance is the importance and format of the music. Each DJ takes on the role of space holder and guide, carefully crafting a musical journey that brings us from stillness, to movement, flow, and ecstasy, and then back to stillness. The dance is followed by a sound healing and a circle of personal shares for integration. All together, it is an incredible container for expression, processing, and healing. All forms of movement are welcome, there are no levels, there is no right or wrong way to move. Movement allows blocked energy to shift. Committing to moving throughout the journey allows us the opportunity for deeper embodiment; getting out of the head and into the body. At EDance305, we provide mats so you can explore all of the vertical levels of movement including jumping, rolling, stretching. You can dance alone or with a consenting partner or group. We also offer a guided movement warmup at the beginning of each dance. This may be dance, yoga, contact improv or other forms of embodied movement, led by a professional movement instructor. Whether you’ve experienced many ecstatic dances or this will be your first one, we hope you’ll join us in co-creating our sacred movement container. We are so excited to move with you! We dance barefoot This allows us to connect more fully with the ground. Socks are okay. If you have a physical condition and you need to dance with shoes, then that is okay. 2. We dance without words This makes it easier to be in a meditative state. No verbal instruction from the facilitators. No talking from the dancers. Sounding is okay! Sighs, growls, laughs, sobs are all welcome. 3. We dance as we are No drugs/alcohol, no phones, no camera/video, no scents, no expectations, no judgements, no shoulds, no oughts. Just be yourself, with respect for ourselves, the space, and one another. 4. We dance with enthusiastic consent If it’s not a “hell yes,” it’s a no. If you are not sure, or their eyes are closed, it is a no. Please respect any no, and try not to take it personally. We are all responsible for asserting our boundaries with one another and for looking for clear signs of “yes.” CONNECT WITH USTo check out our vibe and find updates on future dances, find us on instagram at @edance305 or join our community telegram group after attending a dance.
