Pennsbury HS Mini-THON Raises Over $30K For Childhood Cancer

FAIRLESS HILLS, PA — Students at Pennsbury High School raised tens of thousands of dollars to help fight childhood cancer on Saturday. The eight-annual Mini-THON was held in the school's auditorium over the weekend, where students enjoyed over six hours of games like Name that Tune, Tug O' War, trivia, and a Glow Hour. The proceeds from the event, which ended at $30,561.17, went to support the Four Diamonds cancer treatment center at Penn State Health Children's Hospital, which focuses its efforts on pediatric cancer. Student leaders of the Mini-THON also held similar events at recent basketball and football games, as well as selling t-shirts and hosting "Kisses for the Cure" and Restaurant Nights at local restaurants. Quarry Hill Elementary School and Charles Boehm Middle schools also held their own Mini-THONS, the proceeds from which will be combined with the high school event's proceeds Created in 1972, Four Diamonds has helped over 4,000 children and families who have been afflicted with childhood cancer. The Mini-THON is modeled after Penn State's Dance Marathon. Students at the event had a chance to hear testimonials from families who have received support through Four Diamonds.
