Officer Stephen Plum Jr. died Monday, the department said. His cause of death has not yet been announced. Plum worked with K-9 Murphy.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, his four sons, and his daughter.
"Officer Plum will be deeply missed by not only his family, but by his brothers and sisters in law enforcement and our community," the GoFundMe page reads. "Behind every strong police officer, there's an even stronger family who stands by them, supports them, and loves them unconditionally. 'Kind' is the word that keeps coming up whenever Steve's name is mentioned. Please share this message as we come together as a community to support this grieving family."
