LIVERMORE, CA — Heads up Livermore motorcycle drivers. Extra police patrols will be on the roads this Saturday looking for traffic violations.
From 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. officers will have their eyes on bike drivers and riders throughout the city, the police department said.
"Top crash factors for motorcycles are unsafe speed, improper turning, right-of-way violations, driving under the influence & unsafe lane changes," police officials said.
Following Saturday's effort, 2022's Click it or Ticket campaign starts May 23 and goes through June 5. The department announced Sunday extra officers will be on patrol then as well. They'll be looking for people not wearing their seatbelts and also vehicles that have children who aren't secured in child safety seats.
Officers are also focusing on bike and pedestrian safety on the roads this month, reminding bicyclist that they have to follow the same rule as drivers.
Back in April, police gave 63 citations in two hours as part of a traffic enforcement effort.
