CONCORD, CA — Drivers in Concord saw another uptick in gas prices over the weekend as did many throughout the Bay Area.
Prices at the pump continue to rise and California's average price per gallon is now at $5.99, up 4.1 cents from Sunday, GasBuddy stats show. The highest recorded average for the state dating back to 2008 was listed at $5.94.
In Contra Costa County, the average price Monday for a gallon of regular gas was $6.03.
According to Gasbuddy.com, the cheapest price Monday for a gallon of regular gas in Concord was a tie for $5.49 at Costco, 2400 Monument Blvd. and Valero, 3598 Willow Pass Road. The next-cheapest gas prices were: $5.55 at Flyers, 2560 Bates Ave.; $5.59 at World, 3550 Clayton Road; $5.59 at Bonfare, 2800 Grant St.; and $5.59 at Don's Gas & Liquor, 2807 Port Chicago Highway.
The national average remained steady at $4.48. The tick has gone up little by little over the last month but that's still the highest ever recorded average on record dating back to 2008, GasBuddy reported.
The lowest average for 2022 was $3.27 on Jan. 2. As of Monday, the West and East Coasts as well as Illinois had the highest prices in the country. California continued to have the highest gas prices in the country.
