RYE, NY — A man accused of smashing his estranged wife's cellphone, caused even more trouble when he returned to the scene of the crime weeks later, according to police. On May 10, police were called to the aftermath of a reported domestic incident. The victim told police she and her husband Marquise Roberson, 33, of Peekskill were involved in an argument, but that during the argument, Roberson ripped her cellphone from her hand and smashed it on the sidewalk. An arrest warrant for Roberson was issued for criminal mischief and for violating an active order of protection. On Sunday, Rye police were again dispatched to the wife's home. Her grandmother called the police because Roberson had returned and was banging on her front door. When police arrived, Roberson led officers on a foot pursuit through the streets near downtown Rye. During the pursuit, Roberson ran into a stranger's apartment. When the resident confronted him, Roberson jumped out the open rear bedroom window. The foot chase continued, but police said that because of public safety concerns, a Taser was used on Roberson and officers arrested Roberson without any more trouble. Roberson was treated for injuries he got during his brazen, but failed escape. He was later charged with criminal trespass, criminal contempt, resisting arrest and criminal mischief. He was booked into the Westchester County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash bail.
