Seattle retirement and assisted living community seeking a multiskilled Building Services Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises and coordinates activities of building services staff and construction activities such as carpentry plumbing, electrical wiring, painting, and other construction/maintenance activities. Is responsible for regular maintenance and repair of building utility systems such as heating, ventilation, plumbing, and regular structural maintenance. Also, must have experience in building overhauls and renovation. Designs, plans, or assists in planning renovation/modification projects, which may be complex, to meet specific department or research needs or to correct building problems, requiring an understanding of structural design and department needs. Is responsible for all phases of renovation/modification projects from initial plans to final completion, including the purchase of materials, contact with other outside vendors, scheduling of work, supervision, and follow-up to resolve any problems that arise. Can makes recommendations regarding the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of requested renovations or modifications. Monitors condition of buildings and develops schedule for routine maintenance. Responds to emergencies and facilitates emergency repairs in a timely manner. Purchases all materials and supplies for maintenance and renovation projects; maintains standing orders with vendors. Serves as troubleshooter for problems that arise regarding safety of building or laboratory facilities. Serves as member of Safety Committee. Serves as contact with physical plant on projects that require mutual work. Performs related duties as required.
