Pennco Tech - Bristol Job Description: Janitor Position Summary: Individual will be responsible for cleaning buildings, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy. Vacuum and buff floors, shampoo carpets, empty trash receptacles, and replace lining of trash cans on Campus at our school in Bristol, PA that typically serves 350 people a day. This position is full-time with hours varying between 32 and 40 per week. The schedule includes day-time hours Monday thru Friday, and evening hours on Monday thru Friday depending on shift assignment. This individual will work under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Maintenance. The individual must provide a safe, secure and clean environment for students and staff, and must be flexible and able to blend in with the needs of other departments. Key Job Elements: 1. Assist with opening and closing of Campus buildings when needed. 3. Will help unpack and load new deliveries into the storage area as needed.The manager may ask you to assist with “checking” each item in after delivery, to make sure everything is received. 4. Responsible for the organization and proper storage of cleaning materials. 5. Assist with the cleaning/maintenance of the equipment and appliances. 6. Must have ability to work in a fast environment. 7. Sweep and mop floors. 8. Clean buildings by emptying trash, sweeping, and cleaning surfaces. 9. Clean and disinfect laboratory equipment. 10. Sterilize patients' rooms. 11. Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created. 12. Steam-clean carpets. 13. Use cleaning solutions to remove stains and clean surfaces. 14. Mix various cleaning agents. 15. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees. 16. Dust furniture and scrub surfaces clean. 17. Apply wax to coat floors and buff. 18. Apply sealant to floors. 19. Clean and service restrooms with mops and disinfectants. 20. Move heavy equipment and furniture. 21. Identify and report possible repairs. 22. Fix minor plumbing leaks. 23. Shovel snow from sidewalks and sprinkle salt on surface. 24. Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation. 1. One (1) year of work experience. 2. Superior communication skills, both written and oral. 3. High School Diploma or equivalent. 4. Current State Driver’s License. 5. Ability to handle multiple tasks. 6. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time, and withstand heat. 7. Effective problem resolution skills. 8. Ability to operate traditional cleaning equipment. Organizational Relationship: Reports to: Director of Maintenance Interacts daily with department heads, instructors, and staff.
