Rancho Tissue Technologies, Inc. a leading plant tissue culture laboratory is looking for an assistant greenhouse manager As the assistant Greenhouse Manager at Rancho Tissue Technologies you will be part of a family tradition that has been sustained for over 67 years of growing superior, top quality plants and tissue cultured liners You will constantly be challenged and trained while learning from the industry’s leading liner producer Job Requirements: • BS or AA in Horticulture/Floriculture/Biology or related field and 1 year minimum greenhouse grower experience. Experience to include: watering, fertilizing, planting, shipping and growing tissue cultured or small plants. • Exhibit excellent leadership skills • Detail Oriented • Lead by example – set the highest possible standards for quality, efficiency, productivity, and behavior • Bilingual English/Spanish required • Must enjoy being on your feet and working inside greenhouses all day • Be able Lift up to 30 lbs • Demonstrate computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs • Bilingual English/Spanish required Job Description: • Research and implement new ideas for crop quality improvement • Organize and track the shipping of plants from the greenhouses each week • Working with the greenhouse manager to learn how to care for and monitor our greenhouse range for optimum crop quality, climate, and plant placement. • Assist the manager in the development and implementation of specific fertilization programs and weekly plant inventory updates • Attend internal weekly lab/grower communication meetings • Attend conventions or training off-site periodically • Working with greenhouse manager in all aspects of growing, including watering, fertilizing, spraying, and trialing plants • You’ll assist manager direct employees with their daily tasks in greenhouses • Perform/track soil, water, disease tests as necessary under the guidance of manager • Identify/track/control insects • Identify crop issues and determine solutions • Work directly with our in house breeders and the new succulents they are producing
