Description

Commemorate Memorial Day at Edmonds College 9th Annual Ceremony. Throughout the history of our country, people from all backgrounds, ethnicities, ages and genders have stepped up and put themselves in harms' way to protect our way of life and the liberty we hold dear. Those liberties are so infused in our daily lives that they can be easily taken for granted, or thought of as free. Freedom, however, comes at a high price that has been borne by a relatively small number of people. Some volunteered, others were drafted but all put themselves at risk of losing everything the had and everything they would ever have should they be called upon to give their lives in our defense. It is a small request to pause for a few moments to reflect on all the great things we have in life, and all the things we are free to do that others in other parts of the world cannot and to give our thanks to the people who made that possible. Throughout our campus you will find people who not only wore the uniform of our armed forces, but also those whose family members and friends did so. Some went on to live full lives, while others returned with wounds visible or invisible, or did not return at all. On Memorial Day and at our ceremony we pause to honor these brave souls. We hope you will enjoy the day and the weekend, and also remember what it means.
