Description

Wounded, Ill, and Injured Service Members may register for this event. To sign up to skydive onto the beach see additional details below. As a part of the USO Experience Virginia Beach, the USO of Hampton Roads and Central Virginia and Skydive Suffolk would like to invite our Service members to include Wounded, Ill, and Injured to participate in this unique Skydiving opportunity over the oceanfront, a thrilling and unique opportunity not offered anywhere else in the nation. Participants get an amazing view of Virginia Beach from 12,000 feet as they freefall with their instructor, landing safely on the sand. Participants will be supporting the USO's Honor Jump Program during their jump. Service members will jump in honor of fallen service members and their Gold Star Families. Jumpers will be given a special patch that they will take on their jump. The patch will be collected after the jump and presented along with a special certificate commemorating the day to the Gold Star Families as a way of honoring the sacrifice that they and their service member made for the country. Participants will meet at the Virginia Military Aviation Museum at 0730 for breakfast, skydiving instruction, instructor assignment and plane loading throughout the day. Participants will land with their tandem skydive instructors at the Virginia Beach oceanfront between 9th and 11th Street. Lunch will be served for participants from 1100-1300 at the Springhill Suites conference room at 10th street. Important Note: This activity requires participants to meet minimum physical standards to safely skydive. These include a maximum jump weight of 220lbs (100kg) and be able to lift ones legs at the waist for short periods to land safely with the tandem instructor.
