Diesel Truck Crash Spills 90 Gallons Of Fuel Onto Boston Street

Description

BOSTON — A crash between an SUV and a diesel truck in Boston Monday morning sends one to the hospital and has Boston firefighters and HazMat crews working to clear more than 90 gallons of diesel fuel that spilled onto the streets. All commuters are asked to avoid the area of Southampton Street and Massachusetts Avenue while crews work to clean the streets. Fire crews responded to the area around 9:22 a.m. and found the diesel truck's fuel tank was leaking. A level 2 HazMat situation was declared just after 9:30 a.m. According to Boston firefighters, companies have been able to stop the leak, and the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Approximately 90 gallons of diesel fuel have spilled. There is no word yet on what caused the crash. Patch has reached out to the Boston Fire Department and will report back when we receive more information. No additional information was immediately released.
