STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A man was arrested after stealing drugs from a Giant Pharmacy in Stafford County on Friday, police said. Authorities said the man was already wanted on charges of robbery and theft in Maryland. The robbery occurred around 3 p.m. on Friday at the Giant store on Celebrate Virginia Parkway. Witnesses told police that a robber jumped over the counter at the pharmacy oxycodone and OxyContin. He then ran out of the store and drove away in a white Enterprise van, according to the police report. A deputy saw the van on Celebrate Virginia Parkway and followed it onto Sanford Drive, authorities said. One deputy shut down Sanford Drive at Warrenton Road while others deployed spike strips to deflate the suspect's tires, police said. Other deputies were standing by in case of a chase. The suspect pulled over for a traffic stop and a deputy took him into custody. Authorities said the van was reported stolen from Pennsylvania. The sheriff's office identified the suspect as Ronald Green, a 31-year-old man from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Deputies learned that he was wanted in Maryland on theft and robbery charges. Authorities in Stafford charged Green with robbery and possession of a stolen vehicle. He was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
