Press release from The Benefit Shop Foundation Inc.: May 16, 2022 The Great American Tag Sale is officially over but fans of domestic and style icon Martha Stewart who missed this one-of-a-kind experience have another chance to own some of her prized possessions. No ordinary tag sale, the two-day event on her expansive Katonah, N.Y., property was an exclusive affair with $250 tickets for entry the first day sold out within minutes. The April 23-24 sale benefitted the Martha Stewart Center for Living at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Many attended, including media crews and buyers ranging from neighbors to high-profile interior designers shopping for their clients and celebrities like Kris Jenner buying through her assistant who was on-site at the tag sale. Among them was another Westchester County business owner, who is very philanthropically minded like Stewart. Pam Stone, owner and founder of The Benefit Shop Foundation in Mount Kisco, runs auctions from items donated and consigned to her auction gallery with profits going to local charities. She arrived late Saturday afternoon to shop the sale and bought out Stewart's vintage poster collection, which came from Stewart's Maine home originally built for and furnished by Edsel Ford. The home was bought fully-furnished so the posters were originally Ford's. Stewart and Stone got to talking at the tag sale about their shared interests and the end result was Stone went home with a lot more than just posters. At the weekend's end, she and her team packed up seven truckloads of items from the tag sale that will make up a specialty auction on Wednesday, June 15, with proceeds benefiting Stewart's center at Mount Sinai, which offers primary care to older adults. "I came here to shop the tag sale and was thrilled to be able to assist Marth in extending the fundraising reach of her tag sale by expanding it into an auction," Stone said. "We share a passion for philanthropy and Martha told me that she was delighted that I could take her items and give them a global audience in our online auction." Items are currently being cataloged and photographed for the June auction, which occupies the sweet spot in Stone's auction schedule, replacing her monthly Red Carpet multi-estate auction that usually takes place on the second Wednesday. Among Stewart's items to be auctioned will be farmhouse style furniture that she personally painted, brightly colored braided rugs, and a myriad of items for the home she has designed and sold through her brands ranging from kitchenware to DIY goods.
