HICKSVILLE, NY — A man from upstate New York was arrested early Friday morning after police say assaulted police officers who were trying to arrest him. According to police, officers responded to Hickville Middle School at 6:17 a.m. for a report of a vehicle driving erratically through the parking lot. The car had left before officers arrived, so they began to search the area. Police say the officers found a 2018 Mercedes C43 driving on 6th Street with extensive front-end damage. The officers tried to stop the car, but police say the driver — Mark Scott, 54, of Delhi, New York — refused to stop. Police say he continued to drive, and struck a parked car near the intersection of Jerusalem Avenue and 8th Street. Police say Scott then put his car in reverse and struck the front end of a police car and finally came to a stop. Officers tried to take Scott out of the car and arrest him, but police say he resisted. Police say the officers used their stun guns to subdue Scott, and were then able to place him under arrest. One officer was injured during the arrest and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Scott was also taken to a hospital for evaluation. Scott is charged with second-degree assault, second-degree attempted assault, second-degree reckless endangerment, fourth-degree criminal mischief, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, driving while ability impaired by drugs, and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations. Scott was arraigned at the hospital on May 14. Bail was set at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond, and was not posted.
