GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending May 10. May 4 Officers responded to a St. Paul's Place residence for a report of a person attempting to steal a vehicle from the driveway. The person ran from the scene after being confronted by the homeowner and fled in a white SUV. A Brook Street resident saw a man, wearing a light blue shirt and dark pants, enter his rear yard, steal a bicycle and flee the scene through Custer Park. A truck driver was arrested on Washington Road for having an outstanding Nassau County warrant for possession of stolen property as well as an unsecured load.A wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at the Garden City Country Club. Officers responded to Cherry Valley Avenue where a truck struck the train overpass. The driver was charged with disregarding bridge clearance signs.A driver on Clinton Road was charged with multiple license suspensions, unregistered vehicle, and improper plates. May 5 Officers investigated a report of a $26,500 fraudulent check being cashed against a Garden City business account.A driver on Merillon Avenue was charged with suspended license, suspended registration, and defective head lamps.A driver on Meadow Street was charged with unlicensed operation and passing a Stop sign.A garbage pail was reported lost/stolen from a Chestnut Street yard.May 6 As a result of a suspicious circumstance investigation in Parking Field 9E, officers arrested a 45-year-old woman for aggravated DWI (more than .18 percent blood alcohol content).Officers responded to a report of malfunctioning gates at the Stewart Manor railroad crossing.A driver in Parking Field 7S was charged with driving with a suspended license, suspended registration, and improper license plates.May 7 Officers responded to Old Country Road for a two-vehicle crash where one of the vehicles left the scene. The two occupants of the vehicle remaining at the scene were injured. Upon a search of the area, officers located the other driver on County Seat Drive and arrested him for leaving the scene of an accident with injury.Firefighters and police responded to a St. Paul's Crescent residence for a fire alarm and determined the cause to be burnt food.May 8 A silver sedan left the scene after being involved in a crash with another vehicle on Old Country Road. Officers responded to Rockaway Avenue at Stewart Avenue for a report of a malfunctioning traffic light.A driver on Clinton Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed.A driver on Rockaway Avenue was charged with multiple aggressive driving violations (excessive speed, following too closely, and unsafe lane usage).May 9 Garden City detectives arrested a 20-year-old driver for leaving the scene of an accident with another vehicle, which occurred on May 7. The incident occurred at the intersection of Cathedral and Cherry Valley avenues. An employee reported the theft of a pair of Apple ear pods from the Adelphi University Computer Lounge. With assistance from Adelphi Public Safety, Garden City detectives arrested a 23-year-old woman on May 10. She was charged with petty larceny.May 10 Catalytic converters were reported stolen from two vans parked at the school administration building.A driver on New Hyde Park Road was charged with unlicensed operation and excess speed in a school zone.A driver on Clinton Road was charged with driving with a suspended registration and excessive speed. Police are investigating a report by a security officer who observed four people trespassing inside school buses parked at a Railroad Avenue bus depot.
