Westfield Appoints New Town Clerk, Tara Rowley Retires

WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield says farewell to Tara Rowley, who retired as Town Clerk at last week's council meeting. After a 25-year career in the public sector, Rowley will be vacating her role, and Maureen Lawshe — who was previously Deputy Town Clerk — was sworn in as the new clerk. Lawshe has worked in Town Hall in various roles since 2014 and as Deputy Town Clerk since 2017. She obtained her Registered Municipal Clerks Certificate in 2016 and recently earned her Masters in Public Administration from Kean University, according to the town's announcement. "I truly love what I do, and I love this beautiful town," Lawshe said at the meeting. "It's privilege and honor to be your next town clerk. I look forward to continuing to work with the residents and business owners in the town of Westfield and providing assistance wherever it is needed." Westfield's council also approved a resolution to appoint Nathalie Bernier as the new Deputy Town Clerk. Bernier was most recently employed by the City of Elizabeth in various roles, including a research grant writer and housing specialist for the Housing Authority. This month, Bernier will also earn her Masters in Public Administration from Kean. Martha Piscitelli is serving as a part-time Licensing Clerk, according to the announcement. Have a news tip?
